DOES YOUR SCALE WEIGH TOO MUCH?

DOES YOUR SCALE WEIGH YOU DOWN?

WEIGHTY ISSUE:  How long until SCALE ADDICTION is labeled a DISEASE?

 

FULL-BLOWN ADDICTION
 The BATHROOM SCALE holds a mysterious, unfathomable POWER over us that no other HOUSEHOLD APPLIANCE or gadget ever has - other than the almighty REFRIGERATOR, of course!

It BEGUILES, MESMERIZES, INVITES, and TEMPS.
Kinda like CAKE.

It sings a SIREN'S SONG which we find utterly IRRESISTIBLE and that keeps us vulnerable to it's HARMFUL EFFECTS!

As a WOMAN and an EX-ATHLETE, I fully admit to being a RECOVERING SCALE-AHOLIC!

Shameful yet, there you have it!
ENSLAVED!

It was my MASTER and I BOWED to it - several times a day, in fact! If it didn't quite RULE my life - it certainly AFFECTED it - and the lives of those around me!

Now, years later, I CONTROL it, although, like any ADDICTION, it's a day to day STRUGGLE.

And, I know I am not alone!

Women in particular, can BUCKLE under the very real SOCIAL pressure, scrutiny, and expectation to to be of a CERTAIN SIZE.

They attempt to conform to some SOCIETAL MAGIC NUMBER on a BODY-MASS SCALE that for most - is completely UNREALISTIC and totally UNATTAINABLE!
MOUNTING THE BEAST


Certainly not a very LIGHT-hearted way to live! Terribly BURDENSOME, one might say.

Yet, how many of us MOUNT that dreaded BEAST immediately upon peeling the peepers open in the a.m?

Just to make absolutely certain that somewhere during the night - we didn't magically LOSE that despised POUND. Or OUNCE.
Or MICRO-GRAM.

And, how many return for more SELF-ABUSE by hopping on just before bed, as well? Definitely not the best FOREPLAY in the world!

Y'all know who I'm talking to, here!

 

Here are a few ways you can BREAK the HARMFUL CYCLE of SCALE ADDICTION...

BREAK THE CYCLE
  • SCALE BACK:  It's time to put your full WEIGHT behind the commitment to get rid of this NEGATIVE influence! 
Remember - you are much BIGGER than it is!
  • WEIGH OPTIONS:  The dreaded scale is not the only method available to find out if you are at a HEALTHY BODY WEIGHT
There is also the  'FAVORITE PAIR OF JEANS' system as well! This method is far kinder and gentler in it's delivery system! The 'EYEBALL METHOD' can be very, um, ENLIGHTENING as well!
  • MEASURE THE PROS AND CONS:  Do the people that love you really need to suffer because you may have gained an entire HALF AN OUNCE?
IN CLOSING...
  • BALANCE PRIORITIES:  Always remember that there are far WEIGHTIER issues to deal with!
  •  If we work on BALANCING the INTERNAL SCALES - we will have far less need for the EXTERNAL version.
